A defined neighborhood at the city’s greener edge

Goldcrest feels more composed than the older Westside grid.

The streets curve, houses arrive in recognizable building eras and greenbelts break up the lots. It feels tucked away from Harrison Avenue even though groceries, medical offices and the mall are close. That combination is the appeal: a residential setting without giving up the Westside’s practical errands.

Goldcrest is a specific neighborhood name, while Northwest Westside is broader search language. Do not extend the name to every nearby subdivision, and do not assume every property shares the same association or recorded rules.

What buyers notice on the second visit

The shared age of the houses starts to show.

In a neighborhood built over a narrower span, roofs, siding, decks and windows often approach replacement on a similar timeline. One meticulously maintained house can sit beside another with the original major components.

The drive east is easy until it is not. Test Harrison, Cooper Point Road and US 101 at the hours that matter to you; westside convenience and Olympia commute convenience are related but not identical.

History & construction

Bayhill

“BAYHILL” has 132 county records with a year built from 2006–2014, median 2007; sampled residential lots have a 0.1-acre median (131 observations). These assessor samples help compare building eras, but do not establish the first or last home in a subdivision or the permit history of an individual address.

Acreage is the median of positive lot-size observations below 100 acres coded RES in the research, not a measurement of every home lot. Samples can be incomplete or overlap; do not add them to calculate community totals. Confirm the actual parcel, original permit, additions and recorded map before relying on a date or size.

Evidence: community documented. Development dates, association formation and individual home completion are separate facts. Research updated October 10, 2026.

What to investigate at a showing

The buyer’s side of the story

Buy the maintenance history, not the subdivision age.

A cohesive neighborhood can make houses look more alike than their actual care and obligations are.

Confirm the exact association

Review recorded covenants, current dues, budgets and maintenance responsibility for the specific lot. Do not rely on a nearby address or an old listing.

Date the exterior components

Ask for installation years and permits for roof, windows, siding, deck and drainage work.

Look beyond the greenbelt

Find the owner, boundary and maintenance plan for adjoining open space, then screen drainage and tree exposure.

Test all three routes

Harrison, Cooper Point and US 101 can produce different answers depending on the destination and time.

The honest exchange

Cohesion comes with documents and repeated building eras.

  • Shared rules can protect consistency and limit future choices.
  • Greenbelts add privacy and questions about trees, water and boundaries.
  • Westside services are close; the route across town can still be slow.

A quieter version of Westside convenience

Goldcrest is a good comparison for someone who wants a defined neighborhood and mature greenery but does not need to walk to downtown. I would compare it directly with Cooper Point and other westside subdivisions at the same total monthly cost.
